Dr. Patel was born in the UK and moved to Florida with his family at age 4 where he was raised. He and his wife Bina moved to the Low Country in 2006 from Ohio when he finished his medial training. They chose the area for its climate and the ability to pursue their interest in outdoor activities. They are very active in the community and enjoy spending their leisure time traveling, biking, and participating in water activities.
